Public Liability Insurance

Hi everyone! We're so excited to be running the Hastings Arts Trail in 2026.

To ensure a safe and smooth event for all participants and visitors, we require all participating artists and makers to hold current Public Liability Insurance.

If you are participating in a shared venue, you may be covered by their insurance policy. It is up to each individual artist/maker/participant to ensure they have adequate cover for the trail.

I know it feels like a minefield so I've spoken to several artists and done some research for you.

Duck for Cover seems to have the cheapest option which should see you covered till October 2025.

Here are a some options to consider:

1. Duck for Cover

  • Focus: Low-cost Public Liability specifically for performers and artists.

  • Cover until: October 12th, 2026.

  • Cost: * $59: Standard 'Visual Artist/Craft Artist' (drawing, painting, sculpture, craft). This will be for $30 million Public Liability until October 12th 2026.

  • $77: If 'Fire' is added (e.g., firing work or raku firing).

  • Includes: Creating, exhibiting, and selling work at markets and open studios, plus teaching art classes and workshops.

  • Excludes: Photography, film making, animation, prop/set making, installations, sign writing, graphic design, fashion, jewellery, glass/metal work, and woodwork.
